During his fellowship training in sports medicine, Dr. Nixon was part of the medical staff of the Houston Oilers and Houston Astros. He has maintained an interest in team sports medicine by serving as the team physician for several public and private high schools, middle schools, and school districts in the community. He works closely with several athletic trainers to provide care to student athletes from all over the city.
Being a former collegiate baseball player, Dr. Nixon takes special interest in his favorite sport - baseball. He has coached high school baseball and college summer league baseball for the past 10 years, and is currently the Head Coach for the Northland Christian High School baseball program in northwest Houston. He has dedicated himself to the study of pitching mechanics and the sports medicine research related to the science of pitching. His specialty is video analysis of the pitching motion, and he offers video lessons and instruction to players of all ages.
Dr. Nixon is a member of the Woodlands Church and is a former Board member of the Houston area Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
